Why offer vaccination services to your workforce?

When deciding whether or not to offer vaccinations to your employees, it is worth considering the following questions:

  1. Do we have deadlines that we have to meet in order to protect the company’s finances or reputation?
  2. Is there a minimum staffing level that is needed to meet these deadlines?
  3. Will we fail to cover that minimum staffing level if we have unplanned absences from the workplace?

If you answered yes to these questions, it is worth considering vaccinating your employees against common preventable illnesses that they may be exposed to, as well as educating them on ways that they can protect themselves from infection.

Here at JDR Healthcare we believe that a combined service of vaccination and education is the best way to protect your workforce. As experienced, registered, fully qualified nurses specialising in vaccination we can provide you with all the information you need to ensure that you minimise the disruption to your business that can be caused by outbreaks of preventable diseases. We offer a friendly, professional service and vaccinations at extremely competitive rates.

We can vaccinate against common outbreaks of diseases such as the winter flu virus, as well as less common illnesses that your employees may be exposed to, due either to the nature of their work or simply being required to travel for business.

If your employees work in industries where they are exposed to disease causing pathogens in the course of their everyday work, please go to the occupational vaccinations page for information about the services that JDR Healthcare offer.

Onsite vaccination services for minimal disruption

JDR Healthcare can come to your place of work at a date and time that suits you to vaccinate your employees. We will supply all vaccines and clinical materials and will remove all clinical and paper waste when we finish.

Which vaccinations should our business consider?

Depending on the type of business you have, different vaccines will be appropriate and JDR Healthcare can discuss your specific requirements with you. Even where specific vaccines are recommended not all employees will be suitable candidates. Please note that all information received by JDR Healthcare during pre-vaccination assessments is treated as confidential and will not be shared with the employer.

What geographical areas do JDR Healthcare cover?

JDR Healthcare has clinics in Fife and Perthshire, but will travel to most locations in Scotland to administer workplace vaccinations. We regularly vaccinate in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Stirling but are always happy to consider travelling to other areas.

Do we need any special facilities on site?

No, you do not need to provide any special facilities. All JDR Healthcare need is a quiet room where we can administer the vaccines.

Who administers the vaccines?

JDR Healthcare uses experienced, registered and insured nurses to administer all vaccines.

Common Corporate Vaccinations

Seasonal winter flu vaccination programme

Seasonal winter flu is a highly contagious virus. When someone infected with the influenza virus coughs, infected droplets are spread into the air. If another person breathes in these droplets they may become infected too. The virus can also be spread on hands and surfaces. As such, the virus can very quickly spread through an entire workforce, causing serious disruptions to productivity.

The World Health Organisation recommends vaccination as the most effective way to prevent or reduce the severity of the disease, and by offering onsite vaccination as a benefit to your employees you can protect your business from the negative impact of ongoing, high levels of absenteeism.

As the virus is constantly changing, an annual vaccination is required. The World Health Organization Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System monitors the flu viruses that are currently circulating to recommend the most effective vaccine composition and JDR Healthcare administers that vaccine.

The seasonal winter flu vaccine is a cheap vaccine and is suitable for the majority of people. It provides 70-80% immunity to the most prevalent strains of the virus as identified by the World Health Organization. Employees travelling for business

If your employees regularly travel overseas you should take advice on what vaccines are necessary to protect them from preventable diseases. These can vary depending on the time of year, the activities that are planned, and also whether there are outbreaks of specific diseases in the areas that will be visited.

JDR Healthcare does not just provide vaccinations though. We believe that vaccination is only one part of ensuring the good health of your employees when travelling overseas. By combining vaccination with practical advice on all aspects of travel health, JDR Healthcare provides a unique service which means that your employees have the immunity that they require along with the know-how to minimise the risk of exposure, avoid potentially high risk activities, and effectively mitigate any risk to their health.

JDR Healthcare run specialist travel clinics in central Scotland, but depending on the number of employees requiring vaccinations, we may also offer onsite travel vaccinations. Please contact us today to discuss your requirements. For more information about travel vaccines, please see the travel vaccination page.
